Excellent Grooming!! Caring Staff!. Excellent grooming! I take my pom Chloe there and she always gets the best spa treatment. Everyone says how sweet and wonderful she is and I know she is comfortable being with everyone. They take great care of her whenever she boards there and even gets playtimes! Dave is great with playing with her and she recognizes him when she sees him. :) I know she is well taken care of when I can't take her with me on a trip.
Kind and Professional. kind and professional and will show you around the kennel
Wonderful and caring. The staff are wonderful and caring. The facility is clean and seem genuinely concerned about my pets.
Very knowable. I had my cat clipdown for the summer. Pebbles is not very nice per the last grooming place she went to. The groomer was very knowable about the kind of clip I wanted and when I told her that Pebbles was not very nice she said we'll try it first and if she starts to act up we'll call you. Well I got a call a couple hours later and was told Pebbles is ready to go. She's all washed and clipped. I was SOOOOOO happy to hear that Pebbles behaved herself. I do believe it was because the groomer took her time with Pebbles and did not run her in and out like a car wash. Pebbles and her new sister Jenny will be going back this fall for another clip.
No more worries. So worried to board our 5 mth old puppy, but HAD to. So, on the referral of 3 friends, I visited. Was greeted kindly, facility could be roomer, but smelled ok & the people were very affectionate to her while I visited. (They were replanting grass, so she would only have one of the two areas to run/play in...but I was sure she'd have fun smelling the grass where hundreds of other dogs had been in the past! ). Anyway, the hours were just right for us to drop-off & pick her up. After hearing horror stories of how dogs return home w/ bad behaviors & a smelly coat, don't eat well, & aren't loved on, & so on--->NONE of that happened...she was FINE! Her food tin was almost empty, she was SOOOO happy to see us, smelled fine, & the price was just right--no added charges. She was a little jumpy/easily excitable for a day or two, but then was fine. I was especially impressed that they really understood/accommodated the needs of a puppy--meaning they automatically allowed 4 or 5 (I don't remember which) potty times per day for puppies with no extra fee. (We did purchase a few more for her, anticipating that she'd need them in order to be comfortable & we purchased a 15 min walk each day for her too for a few extra dollars a day!). All in all, I'd recommend Mt Tabor with only one hesitation!! ****If I had a 100+ lb dog, I'd find a place w/ a bigger yard. Oh, & if your animal's staying for 5-6+ days, have her shampooed before bringing her home! Also, visit ahead of time to fill out the paperwork (vaccines, when/how you want her fed, how many treats she's allowed to have, etc---(very important!--as my doggie needed another kennel cough shot before being allowed to stay). So, I hope this helps you in your search!
Great place. My dogs start getting excited when we make the turn towards the kennel.
Outstanding facility. The staff are wonderful and caring. The facility is clean and seem genuinely concerned about my pets.
My dogs love them!. My dogs get excited everytime we make the turn toward the kennel. They love going there and seeing all their "friends"!
Fun at Doggy Camp. I would like to share the multiple great experiences that I have had at Mt. Tabor Boarding & Grooming. I work out of town quiet a bit and must leave my dog at doggy camp (kennel). I called to get information on the services that they offer and was greeted on the phone by a very nice person who answered my questions and concerns. I went in to do a tour of the facility before I booked a reservation with them. When I went in to do a tour I was very pleased to see that many of the staff had certificates on the wall and in asking about them found out that they had been trained in Pet First Aid & CPR, Pet Care Technicians, and dog training. I was also impressed by the many years of experience the staff had, which made me feel more at ease about leaving my dog in their care. I was taken back into the kennel and shown the set up of the 3’x8’ or 4’x8’ runs that they offer. I decided to go with the larger 4’x8’ for my larger dog to be more comfortable in, although they recommended booking in advance as they are more limited on that size. I was then shown the outside play yard area and they explained the potty times and playtime schedules to me. I feed my dog 4 times a day and was told that they would work with my feeding schedule and to this day have done this without any problem or concern. Upon my initial tour I booked my first reservation of many to follow. I have always been greeted by a friendly staff and my pet has had the utmost care that he could possibly have. He always seems happy to come to stay with them and goes to the kennel door right away. When I return to get him he is always happy and looks like he did when I dropped him off. I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about Mt. Tabor Boarding & Grooming and I am glad they have become my pets’ home away from home!
Up close and personal experience. I too know someone who used to work for this company. I have no qualms telling you exactly what would happen because I visited and saw what would happen. This facility may appear clean and organized - and it takes a lot of work to get it like that - but the personal care of the animals is minimal. The facilities are cleaned twice a day. Most of the staff would adhere to that but a few were lazy and would not. Be aware that the turn over rate of the staff is really high. The owner would frequently prints ads in the paper to look for more help because people quit so often. There is little training for the staff. Some do follow the kennel policies and some staff members that do not follow the policies are kept employed because of the high turnover rate. From my friend's experience, the dogs were emotionally and physically cared for by most of the staff. She nor I cannot speak for the staff at present but do know that every staff varies. The owner is very two-faced. She appears kind and professional and will show you around the kennel but don't be fooled. She is only there to take your money. She will often overbook the kennel and place dogs in crowded crates or in the cat's room just so she can make a few extra bucks. She rarely inspects the animals and her main concern is for the appearance of the kennel, not the sanitation or the emotional care of the animals. She once had the morning cleaning and walking routine stopped just so she could reweigh each animal to see if she could charge the customers for extra pounds. Furthermore, the backyard might appear to be a healthy exercise space on a sunny day, but the area has very poor drainage and often floods when it rains. The grounds keepers advised the owner to install a drainage system but she refused due to cost. This lead to the dogs not only getting muddy but being exposed to mold and mildew. I do not know the current state of the kennel; however, I was appalled at the apathy shown towards the animals. The owner even houses her son's dogs there and they are NEVER taken home to him. They are permanent residence and attention starved sweethearts. Let me make this clear, don't take this kennel at face value. Inspect it yourself all you want. I'm not saying the dogs are mistreated or neglected, but pay close attention to the staff and their demeanor. Some actually do the job they are asked but some may not. Many of them are overworked and under-payed, while some are only there to smoke a cigarette and goof off. Watch them preform tasks. Don't bother to question the owner about the dog's visit, she won't know. Ask the technician yourself. Be assertive and get your questions answered.
