Great Work and Honest

I found that these guys were straight shooters. I was scared that I would have a problem with my transmission. I was concern that it would not be fixed at a fair price. These guys were upfront with me and told me they needed to do a complete diagnostic. Yes there was a charge, but the $375.00 seems to be worth it since it was going to take six hours. I figure that was about 62 bucks an hour. Try taking your Jeep to the dealership and see how much they charge by the hour. After taking my transmission apart I went up to their shop and they showed me what parts was damaged. They explained to me what happen. The repair bill was higher than I wanted to pay but, it was cheaper than buying a new car or for that matter a used car. I also had to take inconsideration my family traveling. We take our son out of town with his ball team. I got a 36 month warranty cover by any AAMCO in the US. That makes me feel a lot better. I don’t know what a small shop can do but I doubt they will fix my Jeep at the beach if needed. I don’t think I need to worry about it. It’s been three months and not a problem.
- Pros: The right shop for the right price!
- Cons: Busy Shop
Looking to Replace Transmission? BEWARE of SCAM
by willyp234
After my car's transmission died, I hastily took it to AAMCO on University. From the start, it didn't seem like everything was right. After I agreed for them perform diagnose the problem they gave me an estimate. However, the man refused to give even a ballpark figure for the overall price. He gave me a baseprice and said he was 99% sure that would be it. I had my doubts but still believed his sincerity (foolish me), but since they already had $500 dollar worth of labor I was stuck, so I agreed for them to rebuild my transmission. Sure enough he calls back and says there was unexpected damage inside, adding an additional $800 to the total (the bait and switch) grand total over $2400. After being stuck, I still considered losing money and taking it to other places. A few places said that there was no reason to charge that much for the things that needed to be replaced and no one should charge more than $1500. Also, they guaranteed my car would be ready by a certain date and it actually wasnt ready until 3 days after they promised to have it done. Dishonest, insincere, and unprofessional til the end, please beware of the scam AAMCO on University is running. After doing some research, I found the most honest, knowledgable, and straightforward people in Winston-Salem are from Sebs Transmission and North Point Chrysler. My advice would be to do your research before taking in your car and definitely not go to AAMCO on University in Winston-Salem.
- Pros: NONE
- Cons: Scamming, dishonest, fake sincerity
