Okay Doctors, Terrible Staff. I have had several terrible experiences at this practice. First of all, its almost always packed in the waiting room. They never call to remind you of your appointments, no matter how far in advance the appt. was made. I have had several front desk staff be exceptionally rude to me. They don't return phone calls. I was supposed to get test results back on Friday that I had been nervous about all week and no one called. I called at 3:05 to check in, but of course they close at 3pm on Fridays. Now, three business days after they were supposed to contact me, I still can't get anyone on the phone. Half the time you call you just get a busy signal. I think they just book way more patients than they can handle, so if you need anything beyond your standard 5 minute yearly don't go here. This place is terrible.
BEWARE OF Dr. Scherer !!!!!. After being with Hawthorne for my 1st and 2nd trimesters, I'm having to switch OB/GYN care in my 3rd trimester because of Dr. Sherer! She misdiagnosed me, then after many attempts to reach her by phone about this, when she was FINALLY reached, she said she had NOTHING to apologize for. She also told me she got the least amount of complaints out of anyone and had no reason to believe that anything was her fault!! BEWARE!!!
Wonderful doctors and nurses, poor billing services.
I love my doctors at Hawthorne. They delivered my first child, who was premature, and took great care of me during my pregnancy and delivery and complications I had afterwards.
The only thing I would complain about is their choice in collection agencies. When we ended up with 23 separate medical bills resulting from each family member visiting the hospital within one month's time, it was difficult to keep track of it all and Hawthorne's bill fell through the cracks. We, who otherwise have excellent credit, were referred to the collection agency of Hawthorne's choice. That agency treated me absolutely horribly, and I will never forget the disgrace I felt in communicating with them, which was my first experience and hopefully my last with any collection agency. In my opinion, that agency is a poor choice, on Hawthorne's part, of companies to partner with, when they have such good patient care in their medical office.
One business practice is, to me, unbelievable. Hawthorne's billing staff explained to me that they would refuse to see me until my bill was paid off in full. That, coupled with the loss of dignity in communications with their collection agency, has resulted in a bad taste in my mouth for Hawthorne.
It is only due to my faith in my Ob/Gyn and the nursing staff at Hawthorne that I choose to return there now that that silly little bill is paid off.
