Lost a Customer!. I used to love West End Cafe. I've been going there for years. The last time I went there it was less than impressive, but I thought I would give it another shot. I was disappointed again! The wait time for a Saturday night wasn't that bad. (maybe people are catching on) Once my boyfriend and I were seated our waitress was less than friendly. She lacked normal skills throughout the entire meal. Like telling us what the specials on the board were or even getting us refills. The food was horrible! From the salad, which was wilted, to waiting 45 minutes for a under cooked piece of beef tenderloin. (it came rare) The menu said it came with green beans and it came to the table with asparagus. My boyfriends dish was over cooked chicken with under cooked rice. All the while the waitress was too busy talking with friends at another table to be bothered to ask us if things were OK. I don't know what happened to this place, but they have lost several customers!
Awful across the board. This was one of my favorite restaurants in W-S. No More. I went for dinner on a Saturday night. The wait for the table was not long, but once inside we found our waitress to be lacking the essential skills to actually perform her job. Such as friendliness, prompt service, and overall people skills. The salad was wilted and room temp. I had the paella and the chicken was over cooked, the seafood was undercooked, and the rice was cold and had too much broth. From salad to main course was about 45 minutes. Our drinks stayed empty for most of the night. The dining room was full of staff members. At no point did any of them see that most of the diners in our section were obviously frustrated by our waitress and the wait. When we got the check, no one bothered to ask how our meal was, or if we enjoyed our food. Overall this was on my top five list of worst dining experiences of all time. We will not be going back.
Local favorit. I have always enjoyed my meals here. They have a very brought menu from Subs to steak and fish. The other day had a hot Italian sub which was great and cost effective. My husband had blacked shimp po'boy which he loved. I have not had the more upscale items some of which are in the 20 dollar range. I just wish they were open for brunch.
good place to eat. this place has good food. their menu is big but everything on it is good. it can definitely get pretty crowded on the weekends and during dinner hours.. go on weekdays or off hours (they are open till 10) if you don't like crowds. go here for a good dining experience.
Love this place!. We have been going here for years and love it. Menu is wonderful. Whether you want a sandwich and fries or a dinner entree, everything here is good! Black bean burrito is huge and wonderful! Crab dip is always a favorite. Rubens are tasty! Service is good and worth the wait. Try the desserts, too!
Excellent Place to Go. This place is one of my favorite places to eat. Whenever my family comes in from out of town I like to take them here because it is different and the food is always excellent. The best menu for sandwiches and great entrees at night. Their chili is really good and the pita wraps are wonderful. The salads are HUGE! Anyone can find something they will love here!
West End Cafe - Just Plain Great!. The food is delicious. The service is what you would expect when dining out. West End Cafe is a great place to start your afternoon or end a wonderful day of shopping or touring Winston-Salem. I have high expectations from places I choose to spend my money to eat.... West End was pleasing and enjoyable.
