Let me first say this. I rarely dine out anymore without becoming irritated by the lack of kindness, professional attitude and in general thoughtfullness of restaurant employees.
In saying the above, let me add this! Milner's is the first meal I have eaten out in a very long time that was truly a positive encounter from the hostess through the waitstaff. My wife and I decided to eat at Milner's for the first time tonight and it was outstanding in every way. The small appetizer "Brazen Pork" was out of this world awesome! My filet and lobster were perfectly cooked to my exact order and the sourcream cheescake was to die for. Oh..and the Michelob Ultra was good too.
In all seriousness, Milner's was a breath of fresh air for my wife and I, and we will be back soon!

Terribly disappointing!!!!!. Kids meals are WAY overpriced!!!!!!! $12 for a cup of fettucini alfredo and some fries. $12 for 3 small chicken tenders and some fries. $3.00 for 1/3 cup mac-n-cheese. I had the Shrimp & Grits - the worst I've ever had. Grits were watered down and weren't seasoned. They used salad shrimp - you know the teeny, tiny little shrimp, smaller than popcorn shrimp. Sauce was suupposed to be a sausage gravy - far from it! Tasted like water with a little pepper and julianned red peppers. If it weren't for the andouille sausage, there would have been no flavor at all! Husband got the trout - wasn't even a whole trout, rice had absolutely no seasoning. No bread, no salads, no sides with the entrees! And because we got take out - we didn't even get the drinks and desserts that were supposed to come with the kids meals. And to top it all off, all our food was just dumped into cardboard boxes. $66 for very little, crummy food.
My family and I had dinner at Milner's last Friday and were blown away. Fried oysters over grits...NC trout...Moravian-Cookie-encrusted salmon...Conversation all but stopped as everyone sat there savoring their meals. Our server was attentive, but not intrusive.
Overall, the evening was memorable for all the right reasons.
gross. Management told me my complaints were a lie.And he never gets a complaint about employees. And he refused to apologize. And told me employees never do anything wrong.I raised my voice at him.And got a free meal. Employees not volunteer to clean up dirty floors,tables and chairs. And also brush the crumbs on the table onto the floor. And not clean it up.Yell at customers,demand tips,complain other customers are tip stingy and obnoxious,rush to get rid of,rude looks,talk back rude,interrupt,try to start fights,give wrong order,give smaller than normal portion of food to customers,put finger in the food of female customers,overcharge bill,not want to write down order and did it anyway,overcharge bill,give bill and run away and not come back,give food and drink and try to run away,look elsewhere while talking and walking away and not come back. Not want to wait on female tables and walk away during the meal.EAt and talk on cell telephone while waiting on customers.give free food to social customers friends,and employees not pay for their food,not volunteer to wait on ,give menu,bill,food,drinking glasses,drinks,silverware and napkins and receipt.
Great Food....Multiple Experiences with Bad Service.
I love the food at Milners but have been VERY disappointed lately with their service. I would think that one bad experience could be a coincidence, but 3 bad experiences in a row is a problem. My fiancee and I dine here at least once a month. One weekday evening we went to Milner's for dinner and specifically asked the waitress to take her time because we wanted a casual evening together. The next thing we know she has forgotten our salad and brought our entrees before we even finished our first cocktails! We even asked her about the salad and her response was "you didn't order a salad". We then reminded her how we did order the salad because we asked specific questions about it. She did recall then that we ordered it, but did not try to make the situation better in any way. The second poor-service meal was Sunday brunch a couple weeks ago. The waiter only had a couple tables because the place was almost empty (before the Sunday church crowd). We still sat without water and drinks for almost 15 minutes before I caught another waiter's attention to ask for a water refill. The third situation happened this past Friday night. We called ahead and were told there was no wait, yet we still put our names on the list. When we got there (about 4 MINUTES later), there was already a 25 minute wait (yeah right....). We sat near the bar and waited another 10 minutes before we could catch a bartender/wait staff's attention for a drink. Once she brought our drinks, she spilled 1/2 of my pretty-expensive cocktail (I think it was $9) on my pants and didn't offer to get another drink because of the mistake! At this point we decided that we were going somewhere else...
I promise to post another (positive) review if/when we do go back to Milner's and the service experience is a good one. I wish I never had to write this review and I am seriously going to miss their friend oysters. Please, please, please upgrade your service staff :)
If you like worms, this is the place for you!. We had relatives visiting, so we wanted to take them out for an authentic "southern" experience. Rather than the rich food and southern hospitality we were expecting, we had an evening full of disappointment. Our waiter was overwhelmed with far too many tables so the service was exceptionally slow. Even though we had a toddler and a preganant woman at our table, it was often 20-30 minutes between visits and our order took over an hour and a half from the time we ordered. Worst of all, after the long wait, before my pregnant wife could even take a bite of her salad, our toddler said "mommy, you have a huge worm on your plate" and proceeded to pull a worm from the salad plate. Rather than take responsibility for the issue, the staff informed us that the salad is organic so we should essentially expect this to happen. The other meals were fine, but for the price, we expected a much better overall experience.
