A Great Experience.
I actually entered this place on a whim... I was meeting someone at the Starbuck's next door, and I was early. So, I wandered in here to look while I waited for my friend. I was immediately greeted but not pressured for anything, and I browsed the selection of hair goodies out front for just the right amount of time before I was asked if I needed help. I asked about a deep conditioner and was treated to a very knowledgeable comparison of the various brands the shop carried. However, I was reluctant to purchase the one I wanted because of the price - I don't know if this is true or not, but the saleswoman said that that particular conditioner had almost been the daily 20% off special, and that if I really wanted it, she'd give me the discount!! Needless to say, I purchased it.... and was rewarded with a number of free samples of Dermalogica's wonderful skincare products in my bag in addition to the discount.
While I have not yet had a salon or spa service here yet, I did get the "menu" of services... it has an amazing variety of hair and body treatments, and the prices are very good. For example, an hour massage is $65 - the place just down the street where I used to go charges $90. A Brazilian bikini wax (yeah, ouch, whatever) at Oakwood is $45 - again, the old place charges $80. Plus, from what I can see, the ambience of the Oakwood Salon and Spa is nice and quiet, and the facility is large enough so that even if it is crowded it does not feel that way.
Can you tell I'll be going back soon?
