watermatic v filter magic vacuum cleaner..
A regional manager demonstrated to me the sturdiness of the vacum by picking it up by the power-cord and jerking it around, saying, "See, you can't hurt it even if you try."
A few months ago, the cord began smoking where it exits the motor-housing. I took it to a friend who said the wires had finally shorted out. He said the cord was damaged from the beginning and that that's why I was burning up motors like I was. I believe he was right because the current motor is showing no signs of burning up after he shortened the cord; no grinding and squealing at the two year mark.
Having said that, I must also say that the company did nothing to help me. They said I used it too much. I contacted the company that makes the motors for this vacuum, and they actually laghed when I repeated to them what the president of the vacuum company said about using it too much.
The owner of the vacuum company said that I should send it in to find out what's wrong with it. Of course, my thoughts are: I pay $1400 for a vacuum, and now have to buy another to replace it until I get my old one back. So all in all, it was the worst investment of my life. If you have one demonstrated to you, do not purchase the demonstration model after they swing it around by the power cord because the truth is, you can hurt it.
I am brossq, and everything I wrote in the above review is true. However, one week ago I called the company to tell them about the damaged cord and how I felt about having been sold a used demonstration model. When I finished my rant, Dave Whitlock, the new owner of the company, apologized for my experience with the previous company and offered to make it right with me. Dave was not obligated to correct any situations brought about by the previous owner, but that is exactly what he did (at his own expense). I am now both happy and satisfied. Thanks Dave!!!
And now for my review: This machine is indeed remarkable. It's power is unmatched. Even with the filter loaded with dust, lint, dirt, and hair, it has a lot more power than my Rainbow. Also, the name, "Filter Magic," is quite appropriate; you really have to see it to believe it. Also, unlike the Rainbow, you don't have to "get it ready" before each use, nor clean it up after each use. And there is no doubt in my mind that it will last a lifetime! I highly recommend this vacuum!
Pros: Compact, great power, cord and hose length more than adequate, state-of-the-art filters that will probably last twenty years.
Cons: I can honestly say that I have yet to experience any drawbacks to this vacuum.
