watch your bill!!!!!!. Food has been good everytime we have gone there. However, everytime we go there the bill does not add up, it only adds up in their favor. So watch your bill!!! It seems that you will always have a menu item accually costing more when she plugs it into the register. Your 2.85 guac. will cost like 3.85 and you may end up having a soda cost 1.00 more also. Another thing that bothers me about this place is the nickle and diming over their chips and salsa. I asked for just a little more salsa for my food not chips and she charged me .50 and the bottle was not even filled up1/4. So all in all I will probably not go back to either of his establishments, which is sad because I live very close to both.
Overpriced. I took a girl I mentor to dinner there tonight and was shocked to be charged $6.50 for a chicken quesadilla. I had ordered 2 to go in addition to the one she had as we were taking them to her sister and aunt. I could not believe our bill. I politely told our server and the cashier that this was really overpriced compared to other Mexican restaurants. The cashier kept saying "but it was the large one". I told her that it was the same size as the "regular" one at other restaurants. Another server interjected that it was a fair price, I simply said that it was overpriced compared to other places, including Monterrey which is 1/4 mile down the road. She told me that I was wrong, they were their cousins and I was wrong. She basically called me a liar. I told them that if that was their prices, fine, but that we would not be able to come back. I drove straight to Monterrey as I am stubborn and looked at their menu....$3.75. Las Estrellas is charging nearly $3 more. And the girl I mentor noted that the only thing "bigger" about the Las Estrellas one was the bread, that it had a lot less chicken. Needless to say, we will not be going back. It is crazy to pay $3 more for a little extra bread and a lot less chicken. And the best part, it was not even listed on their menu. Apparantly at lunch it is less, but without a listing, who would know. I only know that tonight I paid $10 more for 3 chicken quesadillas than I would have if I had gone 1/4 mile further. Next time we will do that. My mentee loves Mexican so we get it a lot....their loss.
